Our Fishing Charters

It has been said that "Fishing is a state of mind." Our approach is to offer hassle free charters and with conservative pricing, keeping our clients state of mind, very happy. We operate out of French Creek Harbour in beautiful Parksville. We are open from May 1st to September 30th. We have some of the deepest fishing depths in our area. The moment you get out of your car you are surrounded by an amazing amount of wildlife that lives here. At the harbour there lives a family of sea otters that will sometimes show up and hang out with the seagulls just below the cleaning tables hoping to be thrown a morsel of fresh caught fish. Most kids(and adults) just love this! You can also see the many many varieties of birds in the estuary right from our parking area. You can enjoy the smell of the salty sea air by taking a short walk along the breakwater of the harbour that looks out upon beautiful Lasquiti island just across the way. Gaze north and you can see Hornby and Denman islands in the distance. As we head out of the harbour on our trips, the sea lions that lazily bask on the rocks are massive and loud as we can often hear them barking and harking possibly wishing us good luck as we go by. We might chance to see any number and species of whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, too many birds to list. The variety of fish available to be caught is pretty vast. We are surrounded by dozens of gorgeous islands with incredible views of the local glaciers that stretch up and down the Straight of Georgia. All this making up the trip of a lifetime you won't want to miss.

Because we charter direct with no agents or booking companies, we have been able to keep our prices low. Also due to the recent travel restrictions, during the Covid -19 pandemic we are offering our local guests a 10% discount on our rates for fishing charters. Our fishing charter packages include our ultra comfortable Raider boat with skipper and crew, all the gear, rods, tackle, down riggers, bait, ice and fish cleaning. All the customer provides are the fishing licenses with salmon tags, appropriate clothing and snacks. Don't forget your camera!!

Safety and Comfort

Not all charters and their boats are created equally - some questions you need to ask.

Is the cabin seating adequate?

We have spacious cabin seating for up to 4 guests and crew.

Is there protection from the sun or the rain? Which, many boats do not have?

We have a terrific, almost all window cabin that no matter what the weather, you can go inside to escape the elements if you wish to.

Do you have a real washroom with a lockable door, or is there just a toilet in the main salon, "With a curtain."?

We have a lockable door on our washroom, there are even windows in there if you wanted to keep an eye on your fishing rod or the kids. yes, there are curtains for privacy too.

Can I bring my own life jacket or do you provide life jackets?

We do provide life jackets for all guests and crew, however if you have one you like and want to bring we encourage you to be comfortable and want you to feel and be safe while on board with us.We have full back and chest style life jackets from infant sizes with head support up to large adult sizes available on board. Please discuss sizing with the captain when booking and we will ensure proper fitting safety equipment be made available.

What if i get sick or feel sick while on a charter?

We cannot predict if a guest will feel ill during our trips. Some people do but most people don't. If you have experienced sea sickness before we recommend you take a motion sickness prevention 30 mins before we leave. Try not to eat a big heavy meal before our trip. We find this may help people who have suffered from sea sickness before, to avoid having it again. If someone gets too sick we simply come back to the harbour and let them walk on solid ground for a bit, if it helps, perhaps we can go back out and try again.

We live out of province/country, we would like to have our fish smoked or canned , how does that work?

We have a couple options for local canning and smoking companies here on the island. If you have a large enough amount of fish we can send your catch to the company of your choice and they will ship it to your house no matter where you live. This can take some time though so be prepared to have possible long wait times as they are usually very busy during the fishing season. We have a brochure on board that explains the available options for your fish.

Does my mom/brother/son/grandma need a license? They don't even want to fish.

Yes, everyone on board with us for a fishing charter needs a license with a salmon stamp, regardless of wether they are fishing or not. It the law.
